Pay Per Click Management

Once you start running your highly optimized pay per click campaign, is it really important to manage it?

Let us first assume you have an excellent pay per click campaign, before we go into whether or not you should worry about managing it.

When building your adwords campaign, if your strategy was to use your imagination by guessing what people typed into the search engines to find your product or service, and then added these keywords to your list, you have hurt your chances of getting any business.

Moreover, you will pay the highest cost per click, and only if you are among the very lucky, will you convert these types of keywords into sales.

Even if you used the free keyword research tools available on the Internet to grab slightly more targeted keywords, you will still pay the most and get the least.

But again, we are basing this article on whether or not you should actually worry about managing your pay per click campaigns after they start running.

A great analogy to help us better understand the concept of pay per click management would be purchasing a brand new car.  We enjoy the perks of a new car because it comes with a great warranty; meaning, we do not have to worry about maintaining it for a while.

But what happens when the service light comes on at 30,000 miles, and then again at 60,000 miles?  You drove all those miles without a care, knowing you had a great vehicle that would get you exactly where you needed to go.

Whether you personally took your vehicle in for that first check-up, or had someone else manage it for you, it was time to make sure your car continued to drive at its peak performance.  Otherwise, you would pay more later, because you did not optimize your vehicle and its features.

How much can this cost you over the years if you ignore this type of critical maintenance?  Thousands.

Does this seem like a dramatic analogy in relation to pay per click management?  Unfortunately, it is not.  Actually, not managing your pay per click campaigns can prove to be more costly than ignoring your vehicle’s service call.

So what should be managed?  How should it be managed?

Almost every single market, product, and service has competition popping up on the Internet every day.  Perhaps they word their product or service just a bit differently than yours.  Consumers become familiar with these words, and now begin searching for them.

If you do not continue to research your past, current, and new competition on a monthly basis, you will no longer be competing, because you will not even be listed.  Without knowing what these new keywords are and adding them to your pay per click campaigns, your product or service will never show up when consumers search.

If you notice you are receiving less clicks on certain keywords than before (unless you have a seasonal campaign), and you do not add new competitive keywords to your campaign on a regular basis, it is easy to see how this will hurt your business.  But what about your costs per click?

Hopefully you have either hired someone to manage your pay per click campaigns, or you are doing it yourself with the best paid tools. Regardless, make sure you are continually testing and tracking new text ads, conversions, and deleting inadequate keywords with minimal or no returns.

The final step must be updating the search engine optimization (SEO) of your web site landing page with the new keywords, which will help reduce your costs per click. But you must be very careful not to add too many, or you will be spamming the search engines, and that will hinder your organic (free) traffic growth.

If all of this sounds too confusing, then you might consider hiring a pay per click management expert, or spend quite a bit of money for the manuals and expensive tools to do it yourself.  Just make sure you have many hours to do the research needed to complete this task on an ongoing basis, because it is essential to keep up with the competition, and keep your pay per click costs down.

It is always wise to consult an expert for pay per click services, because this is their expertise and niche, and finding one who has proven themselves with superb testimonials is a good start.

Pay Per Click Advertising | Budget Secrets to Save Thousands

As Featured On Ezine Articles

Many consumers think pay per click is a form of online advertising used only by large corporations, which is simply not true. Another myth about Google AdWords PPC campaigns is that you will quickly run out of money before making any sales. On the contrary, with a highly optimized and targeted pay per click campaign, which should always include having an SEO expert analyze your on-page search engine optimization, you can significantly reduce your cost per click for major keywords.

You do not always have to concentrate on the long tail keywords, although these can prove to be quite fruitful if researched correctly. You will be able to compete with Fortune 500 companies for generic keywords (car, boat, house, mortgage) in the same (or higher) position on the first page of Google.

Unfortunately, millions of websites compete and sell more than one type of product. For example, a vitamin store has a difficult time paying less per click if their site is not fully and properly optimized for the search engines, as well as consumers. For example, if you are selling Omega 3 fatty acids on one of your web site pages, and Vitamin E on another, you must make sure you have a completely separate ad campaign and landing page for each product.

Additionally, each product’s web page must have the exact keywords researched to match what consumers are actually searching. This means they need to have a website that is optimized for every single product (some sites have thousands of products), with individual pages and search engine optimized (SEO) keywords for each of these pages. Guessing what these keywords should be is not a wise course of action.

Another way to save money on your pay per click advertising budget depends upon your market and consumer’s buying habits. You might consider running your ads Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. However, if you run a website where users predominantly search for your products or services on the weekends, save money and only run your campaigns on Saturday and Sunday.

Don’t be afraid to ask your customers what time they found you, and on which day. Always make sure to find out which keywords they typed and search engine they used. Statistically, one out of every three consumers use Google for all of their search queries. This will help you narrow your target market and advertise only where consumers find and buy from you.

Save more advertising cash by placing Google Analytics on every single page of your web site. It is free and critical to research the habits of visitors once they arrive on your web site. Just based on Analytics findings, you can make changes to your web site, which will increase sales substantially.

Lastly, do not advertise on the Content Network until you are an expert using pay per click. This option is only for people who know their consumers’ spending habits and have researched the exact websites they shop on most of the time. If you set up your pay per click campaign and start running your ads on the Google Content Network blindly, you will lose all of your money and rarely make a sale, if any at all.

When it comes to pay per click advertising, having a highly targeted set of campaigns, keywords and ads, set up by a pay per click professional who is also an SEO expert will ensure you are 99.9 per cent ahead of all other companies competing for the same products and services.

Most pay per click companies only set you up with keywords and ads, which will cost you a great deal of money each time someone clicks on your ads, since your actual web site is not SEO optimized for AdWords.  Make sure you choose a pay per click expert who is also an SEO professional who includes both, without upselling you on other services you do not need.

By using the valuable tips outline here, you will be well ahead of your competition using pay per click.

Pay Per Click Advertising Budget

There is a lot of confusion when it comes to how much you should spend on your pay per click advertising budget.  Google makes this decision simple, by letting you decide how much you want to spend each and every day.  You are not signing a monthly contract, and there is absolutely no obligation to continue running your ads.

If you are tight on advertising dollars, there is no need to delete your campaigns.  All you have to do is pause your pay per click campaigns until you are ready to start them up again.  This applies even if you want to keep them on hold for 6 months, or even longer.  They will be waiting patiently until you simply click a checkbox to activate them again.

If you have ten different campaigns and only want to pause some of them, go right ahead.  Keep seven of your AdWords pay per click advertising campaigns running, and pause the remaining three.  You have the ultimate ability to stop them from running whatever time of day, day of week, and which months you want to make them active or pause them indefinitely.

Google makes it so simple, that most customers think they are tied into an expensive contract, and that is certainly not the case. Your pay per click account is yours to run and pause as you please, because Google wants to make sure its customers’ campaigns are running when you have your site fully optimized, so you pay the least cost per click possible.

There are many factors consumers are not aware of when hiring an individual or company to build them a highly targeted, successful, converting (sales) pay per click campaign.  Choosing a budget within your limits is only one factor to consider.

Pay Per Click for Real Estate Agents

As Featured On Ezine Articles

Most companies are afraid to invest in online advertising, either because they have tried it and lost thousands of dollars, or because they are afraid of losing thousands of dollars. You should be skeptical, because both those logical reasons are quite valid, and true.
Having clients who previously hired a company or person who implemented their Google AdWords pay per click campaigns to get them traffic to their site proved to be expensive, and useless for their business.
Aren’t all adwords accounts the same? Shouldn’t you be able to hire someone who sets up ppc campaigns and get targeted traffic to your website? Sure. So why didn’t that happen?  Why did you pay a significant amount of money, get a lot of clicks, but no business?
Doing your homework comes in handy. And, unfortunately, pay per click services are popping up everyday on the Internet. It’s the same thing as going with a real estate agent who just passed their license, but never sold a house. Or going with a real estate agent who has all the connections, knows all the best listings and deals for their clients, and makes the sales because they know their market, and their clients needs.

Which one would you hire to represent your best interest?

When it comes to pay per click services, you must look at testimonials. Do they have actual names and web site addresses that you can view? Have they had any clients? Are they looking to upcharge you on ridiculous monthly fees?

When it comes to the real estate market, your adwords account can be set up in so many different ways, that it will either make or break your bank account. How?

If you want to sell real estate only in California, then you need to make sure your pay per click ads are only showing in California.  Why pay for the rest of the United States to click on your ads?

Are you on Google’s Content Network? Why? You will literally lose thousands of dollars targeting your ads there.  The content network is for a very few who, and if you aren’t careful, you will go broke in one month using it (especially if you set your daily budget too high).

Do not use the Content Network, unless you think people who have not searched on any keywords to find something and they happen to see your ad on the page when they are “surfing” will actually sign up for your services after clicking on that ad for which you just paid a fee.  Sure, you can set your budget lower for clicks on the content network, but it isn’t going to bring you in a conversion (sale, signup, referral) that will even pay for these types of clicks.

A real estate agent’s pay per click campaign usually targets a certain region, so make sure you campaign does so accordingly. When you target that region, you need to make sure your keywords are set up with individual campaigns and individual ads for these related keywords.  That is the number one mistake most pay per click companies make. They lump a whole bunch of keywords into a campaign, write a few ads, then activate the campaign.

What is your result? You pay the highest cost per click, and get a lower conversion, because your keywords are all different, yet they are using the same ad.

When it comes to ads, I have seen the worst ones you can imagine. Ads are your only sales pitch. You get less than 2 seconds to grab their attention. Why waste your money and their time by having them click on an ad that doesn’t apply to what they are looking for and it cost you way too much because your ppc company never optimized your campaigns.

If you searched for Palm Springs Real Estate, would you click on a text ad that said the following:

This is an actual ad I took from a reatlor’s AdWords campaign on the first page of Google when typing in palm springs real estate.

Palo Alto Real Estate
Free SF/Peninsula Home Search. See
1.4M Photos, Maps, Reduced Prices!

Do you see what is going on here?

They are targeting Palo Alto, which is in California, but they would be paying if I clicked on it! And how relevant would that we to someone searching for real estate in Palm Springs? You would think someone searching for real estate in Palm Springs would simply not click on that ad, right? If you think that way, it will cost you.

The fact that this company is offering a free home search might spark their interest enought to click on it, and they never have any intention on signing up with this company.

If you are offering something free (which can be effective), there are so many different factors you must consider when setting up your AdWords account so you don’t get useless clicks, or tire kickers.

This is an actual ad that would be more likely to get a conversion (signup) for you.

Without going into the extremely detailed discussion of keyword research (20 – 30 hours should be spent here), optimization of every single keyword (critical), your daily budget, your target and where your ads will show, your text ads, and all of your on-page SEO (search engine optimization) needed, this should at least give you a basic understanding that viewing testimonials from past clients who had sales due to the results from this expert adwords individual or pay per click company is crucial to your success, and your wallet.

One Way Link Building

Free – Proven – Link Building Secrets

You can have the best looking site on the Internet, but that doesn’t mean you will get customers.

If you are a business person who has a web site on the world wide web, then you need to get serious about link building.

What IS link building?

I can tell you right now, it’s not a place you find on the web where you join a link exchange program to get some links to your web site. I made that mistake already. You don’t have to.

It’s not a web site on the Internet you find and hit “submit link” and think your rankings will get you on the first page of Google and thousands of people will come flocking to your site because they can finally find you.

And it’s definitely not an automated link exchange program you found to get you automatic links while you sleep.

What about a free link exchange? Don’t do it if it’s an FFA (free for all) web site. Period. Just do not submit your web site link there, ever.

So what CAN you do to get started on some serious link building techniques that will get you listed on the first page of Google?

1 – Do your homework.

2 – Find out what keywords people are actually typing into the search engines, not which ones you “think” you want to rank for that people “might” be typing into a Google or Yahoo search engine box.

3 – If you merely “guesstimate” which keywords you want to build links for, you just wasted one valuable year of your life. Here is what I use, it is the # 1 Keyword Research Tool on the Internet.

4 – Check your competition’s web sites. Type a keyword you want to rank for on Google, then look at the first two organic (free) web sites’ source code.  What keywords are in their title tag?  Grab them. Start making a list on a piece of paper of these keywords.

5 – Repeat step 4 for any keywords you’ve researched that actually GET searches, then, and only then, can you start some serious, one way link building efforts.

6 – There is quite a bit more research I can tell you to implement regarding your competition, and you can find out how many links you will need to beat your competition, but that will have to be for another day.  You’re already 99 per cent ahead of the game with the steps I’ve outlined for you in this free link building article.

7 – Start writing articles. Not just any articles, either. Make sure the title of your articles start with one of the keywords you just spent time reasearching. If you want to rank for SEO Services, then make sure your article title is something like, SEO Services for Less. Always try and make the first words in your title tag and article titles your primary keywords. The search engines read from left to right.

8 – Place the primary keywords in the first sentence or paragraph of your article, then again in the last sentence or paragraph of your article.

9 – Make sure you place other secondary keywords you have researched that are in direct relation and highly relevant to your article and product–place these secondary keywords throughout your article.  Make sure they flow for the reader. It must make sense.

10 – Once you have an article with at least 500, preferable 750, words, post it on article directory site in the related category to your product or service. Make sure you choose an article directory site that lets you make your primary keyword an anchor text link. If they only let you place your web site in the article, or only under the author’s information, I wouldn’t waste my time submitting my unique, original article on their site. (Do not submit the article on more than one article directory site.)

11 – You are trying to get one way links with anchor text primary keywords to your relevant landing page.

12 – Do not send every article to your home page. Send it to an article or page you have written that has the article and title keywords in the URL.  This will then be highly relevant anchor text link, and you will rank easier for that keyword.

13 – We all want to outsource. But you will get seriously burned if you hire someone who has no idea how to get you one way link building correctly. Hire an extreme SEO expert. Everyone says they are an expert though. It takes more effort for an SEO professional to undo the damage done by uneducated link builders all over the Internet who seriously do not have a clue how to optimize for true, one way link building.

Now that I have explained this highly kept secret that I personally spent thousands of dollars to learn, I would really appreciate it if you would put a link of my site on your site, if you can. Or, perhaps you can grab my RSS feed and share my new articles with others. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask for help, because I enjoy helping others, too.

Keep up on link building, because it is an ongoing effort. Your competition will keep adding more links for your primary keywords, so you have to keep building yours to get higher search engine rankings, too.

SEO Marketing. Is it a Scam?

Remember when people said, “Just Google it,” and you had no idea what they were talking about?

Do you have a “My Space” page? Huh?

I saw it on You Tube; you have to check it out. Where?

Now we have SEO.

Ninety-nine per cent of the world’s population does not understand what it is, or what it even means.  The other one per cent love the challenge of it!

Search Engine Optimization is SEO.

What does that mean?

Got a few hours? Because that is how long it will seriously take for me to explain the majority of the facets of Internet Search Engine Optimization, the techniques needed to do it, and secrets no one else wants to give away for free.

Is it hard? At first, yes. But once you learn everything, it is like a no-brainer about what you need to do.

So it is easy? Can anyone can do it?  No, I did not say that.

Once, and only once you  learn all of the techniques and how it must be integrated on your actual web site pages, then off your web site pages on the world wide web, it literally will drive you bonkers doing all of it!

Why is it so expensive?

Because no one in their right mind wants to live in front of their computer and research hundreds of websites, find their competition’s keywords, then find out what they need to do to beat them at this search engine ranking “game.”

Okay, I am obviously not in my right mind, because I do live in front of my computer, researching web site after web site after web site.  I have searched more markets in the past two years and found their competition and grabbed all of the data needed to beat these web sites to get on top of  them on the first page of Google.

Here is the number one problem about SEO, once you have all of this information.  Are you ready?  Here is the major problem–it’s called—TIME.  That’s right.  Time.  It’s a rare commodity, and the more business owners I talk to and tell them I can get them on the first page of Google for free, organic rankings, the more time I waste not working on my own first-page rankings for all of my web sites.

Why do I say it is wasting my time? Because those people who do not understand how much TIME, education, experience, and expert knowledge I have at doing this wants to PAY for it.

I spend more TIME telling people what they need to do, walk them through their competitor’s web sites, and tell them what I will do for their web site’s rankings, and THEN I provide them with a fixed price, only to hear their jaws drop (yes, you can unfortunately hear that over the phone).

Would you be able to tell a psychologist all of your problems for free?  Absolutely not.

Let me put it this way.  SEO is far, far, far from a scam.  It is imperative to your web site’s success.

BUT, there are so many uneducated SEO companies and SEO individuals, that you must be very, very careful who you hire.

On-Page Web Site Search Engine Optimization

Effective, targeted search engine optimization must be done for your website.  Every single page, including all of its content, must be optimized based on a lot of TIME researching what real people are typing into the search engines.

Your web page title, header tag, meta name description, and keywords must all match.  This is different for EVERY page.  That takes more TIME.

Your content on every single page must have a certain percentage of keyword density.  The title tag and its corresponding ingredients must have a certain percentage weight, and your second keyword choice for your pages must have another percentage of keyword density.  Don’t get this mixed up, or your rankings will suffer.

If you guess at search engine optimization, you might get de-listed, or not indexed at all, because the search engines see you as a spammer.  You might not even intentionally do this, but you will get hurt ranking on the first page of Google (or listed at all on Google) anyway because you didn’t have a clue as to what you were really doing.

How many pages does your web site have?  Multiply every single page and its full optimization (done correctly) by approximately 5 hours PER PAGE.  That’s a lot of a search engine optimization expert’s TIME.  This includes all of the crucial research required for your site’s on-site optimization.

Off-Site SEO on the World Wide Web

This is an entirely new ballgame.  If you thought on-page web site SEO was complex, tedious, or more than you imagined, then get ready for Excedrin Migraine.
Off-page (all over the world wide web) SEO is something that having a true expert is critical to your website, traffic, and conversion’s success.

Some Examples:

High PR site submissions – Critical.

Highly related category submission directories – Critical.

Correct anchor text linking – Critical.

Multiple Class “C” IP Address submissions – Critical.

Certain types of domain extension submissions – Critical.

Unique, fresh, continuous article submissions to high PR directories – Beyond Critical.

Have you taken your Excedrin yet?

Have I lost you?

The techniques listed above are a start. But that doesn’t include the hours upon hours of research it takes before SEO experts implement these strategies all over the world wide web for your business.

That is another whole education experience your SEO consultant needs to have for your success.

Because if they don’t do their research correctly based on your target market, then they will be submitting all of the wrong information to all of these sites.

Is that a big deal?  You tell me. Do you enjoy throwing a lot of money into your sink’s garbage disposal?

This should have cleared up whether or not you were under the impression that SEO might have been a scam.  It is not.

But you can get scammed by hiring a novice who is just trying to make a quick buck, and you are still left with no customers.

For those of you who understand this is an extremely valuable and new service available to the world wide web, just like Google was just a few years ago, it has taken over $100,000 dollars for me to learn, and years of my life.  So expect to pay top dollar for my education, experience, and time.

It is not inexpensive, but if you have a product that makes a good sized-commission each time you make a sale by arriving up on the front page of Google when someone types in certain keywords relating to your market, it will be worth your money and TIME.

Web Site Design Rip Offs

As Featured On Ezine Articles

I need a web site. Do you build websites?

If I simply said, “Yes,” I could certainly make a lot of money. But I reply with, “A web site will do you no good if your customers cannot find you.  If you want a website, make sure it has the proper coding, ease of navigation,
security, and on-page search engine optimization.”

Yes, that is where I lose a lot of clients. But I am perfectly fine with losing clients who do not want to be educated for free, before paying me to build their web site.

Unless you want a landing page for simple name capture (where you have other methods to drive traffic to that page), you will more than likely want to inevitably come up on the first page of Google for organic (free) traffic, or at least have a highly optimized site so you pay a lot less for Google AdWords pay per click services.

I recently hosted a local meeting with Internet savvy business owners at my home.  A gentleman in attendance provided us with a web site where the owner is literally paying thousands of dollars per month (yes, I said THOUSANDS) to get people to find him on the first page of Google.

Guess what happened?  All that money, all that time, and his so-called SEO expert got him delisted from Google using black hat methods. The owner was so happy at first, but now what?

If you can’t be found on Google and its network search partners, you have just lost 80 per cent of the search engine market. Yes, 80 per cent.

It really upsets me when I hear things like this, because I am so honest and up front with all of my clients (and potential clients), that I know if they go somewhere else because it is “cheaper” initially, that they will wind up paying a much higher price down the road.

You do not understand web design or programming. You do not understand SEO search engine optimization. You are not an expert at online Internet marketing. So who do you trust?

That’s a very good question. And I feel badly for hundreds of thousands of people each day who get duped, or ripped off, by web designers and so called SEO professionals.

This is the very reason that referrals and client testimonials are so important. Contact a former client. Ask them how the web developer and their SEO techniques helped you gain rankings for your site on the Internet. If the person says they did not get good service, or they were promised something that was not delivered, then ask the professional what happened with that client’s project.

Sometimes it is not the professional’s fault; it is due to a lack of technical understanding by the client. But that is where the professional should put it in writing for the customer.

And just knowing you spoke with one of their former clients should not make any professional uneasy. If they did their work well and were great to work with, then they should be glad you called or wrote a former client. Their work and professionalism should speak for themselves.

If the client doesn’t list any customers or web sites, ask for a reference of previous clients.  Sometimes they will not put their clients’ web sites on their site due to confidentiality agreements and proprietary information. I will not disclose some of my customers or their web sites for this very same reason.

Respect for the customer (client) must always come first. Profits are not the main reason we should get into this business. Sadly, the majority of professionals do not share this same view, or attitude.

Having over 20 years of technical experience, beginning with my military education, is something I have enjoyed for over 20 years now. As an extremely diversified business person, I relish in the chance to make a business owner successful with my skills. After all, that is why I sit down each and every day to learn how to beat the competition and build a business to serve satisfied clients.

If you have no knowledge of the web site design business, SEO, copywriting, your competition and how they are marketing online to get on the first page of Google, then start asking a lot of questions.

Sure, I could build you a very professional looking, 5-page web site in less than two hours. Trust me, that means absolutely nothing. And the majority of all web designers do not know a thing about optimizing your site for the search engines. They know how to build a site, and that is it.

If you were to look at the source code of some web site designer’s sites, you would never, ever think of hiring them. It takes me less than 10 minutes to look at some statistics about a web site to see if they really know what they are doing.

There will continue to be an increasing need for websites, and it is an extremely lucrative business for the sharks waiting to gobble up your wallet. When it comes to web site design, “you get what you pay for” is 100 per cent true.

Do not think you are getting a steal of a deal web site for $500; you are certainly not. You are getting a web site that looks nice, and that is all.

If the web designer you are considering hiring says, “We do SEO,” ask them to put (in writing) what they are promising.

I asked a recent business owner what kind of search engine optimization services and web site design was included for such a ridiculously and insane, low price. He then (after already hiring and paying them part of the money) asked the web designer some more questions and found out there was nothing included to put him on the first page of Google, actually.

Because he did not understand any of the technical aspects, all he heard was “Yes, you will have SEO and can be found on Google.”  All of the promises were just the “professional” throwing a bunch of terms around, making it seem like he was going to be on the first page of Google for 20 generic terms (not even long tail), and none of this was ever included.

Get it in writing. Have we all forgotten what a contract is today? In this business, it is all you have to protect yourself. When the work in the contract doesn’t happen as agreed, this is your only documentation and recourse you can use to get a refund, or have them continue working for free until it does happen as listed in the contract.

I prefer providing my clients with piece of mind by charging a “package,” fixed price. If you hire someone based on an hourly rate, how do you know if they are really working all of those hours? You do not. And you will never know.

With a fixed price, if I do not meet my own criteria, I continue working until I do, at no additional cost. Because the search engine algorithms are constantly changing, so must my technical marketing efforts. My clients know they are not going to get ripped off since they do not have to pay an extra penny.

Would you pay an auto mechanic an hourly rate to rebuild your engine? Of course not. That is why auto mechanics get paid a flat rate for each type of job by their employer. If they know they have 18 hours for a rebuild, they have incentive to get it done in 10 and still get paid for 18 hours. Don’t mess with what works, and this billing theory is the same for web site design, SEO and all other IT (information technology) services today.

You would imagine some of this is common sense when you are looking for a web designer, right? No, sadly, it isn’t. People have a fear of programming, SEO, copywriting, AdWords pay per click services, first page rankings, et cetera.

So they assume the nice, professional looking web site owners must know what they are doing, so they sign up and hand over the credit card.

Be prepared. Do your homework. Talk to former clients. Ask questions. Sign an Agreement. Sign a Contract.

Do not assume a professional looking web site means you are hiring a professional web site designer. Do not assume after you have a web site built that anyone will find you at all. It takes much more than a pretty face to get you on the first page of Google, and that is where the money is today.

Google Fraud

Google Fraud

Since business owners began using pay per click advertising, there is a growing concern over Google Fraud.  Many questions have arisen, such as, “How do I know these clicks are from actual potential customers,” and “How can you tell if my competitors are clicking on my ads?”

First, let me tell you the burden not only lies on Google, but the business owners as well.  You may say, “No way, it’s their responsiblity, not mine!”
Let me ask you this.  If you have a brand new car which has high monthly payments, isn’t it your responsibility to check the oil?  Or at least pay someone to check it and change it for you?  Of course it is.  General Motors doesn’t come knocking on your door saying, “It’s been 3,000 miles (or 7,000 miles if you are using all Synthetic oil), we are here to change your oil.”  But wouldn’t THAT be nice!
The point here is that you either hired a reputable Google AdWords Pay Per Click Firm to research your target market and give you a killer advertising campaign, or you gave it a whirl and did it yourself.  You are then paying Google a daily and monthly fee for your pay per click advertising.
So then why wouldn’t you nurture this expensive campaign and make sure it is optimized and you are getting valid click traffic, and the best conversions for the price you pay for each keyword?  You should, and this is also part of your responsibility.
How do you do your part to make sure there is no Google Fraud happening in your AdWords campaign?
It is quite simple, actually.
First and foremost, login to your Google AdWords account and click on the light green tab at the top that says Analytics.  It will turn dark green, so you know you are on the proper menu.  On the bottom left-hand side of the page, click on the link that says Ad Website Profile.

Then make sure Add a Profile for a New Domain is checked in the circle, then type in your URL, also known as your domain name or web site address.  Go ahead and type in your web site’s address, such as  Then click Continue.

You will then see a script in a text box.  Go ahead and copy that code, then install the Google Analytics code on every single web page you have, or have someone else install it for you.

Here is what the code looks like:

<script src=”” type=”text/javascript”>
<script type=”text/javascript”>
_uacct = “UA-490000-1″;

Once it is installed on every single page of your web site (yes, this is necessary), you will then be able to check all of the statistics of your visitors and see what keywords they type into the search engines that led them to click on your site.  How simple is that?!  You can login everyday, or have the reports e-mailed to you.
What kind of information does Analytics give me?

- With Google Analytics, you can view very valuable data, such as the user’s city and state, or even locations in different countries.

- Find out how much organic (free) traffic you are receiving, and  which Internet Service Providers these potential customer are using.

- Find out the percentage of loyal visitors versus the percentage of brand new, unique visitors every day.
- How long did they stay on your site?
- What pages did they visit?
- Did they purchase your products or opt-in to your free report or newsletter?
- Add the conversion tracking code to your shopping cart pages.  It’s not really very difficult, and hiring a programmer to do this is inexpensive.
Step number two is to analyze daily traffic, and make sure you are not getting a ton of traffic from one area, unless you have a local region targeted.
Make sure you also analyze your web logs, or have your programmer e-mail you daily or weekly reports of your web logs.
Keep in mind there are several reasons why it might appear you are getting fraudulent clicks, but they might actually be valid.
Here are some reasons for an increase or change in clicks that might appear as if they are related to fraud but are not.
1) Seasonal market; i.e., Christmas products (increased traffic during the last few months of the year)
2) Competition drops pay per click advertising; i.e., they are no longer showing on the Google AdWords pay per click pages along with yours. This means you will receive more traffic.
3) You have increased your cost per click and/or daily budget, which means you will receive more clicks.
4) Identical IP addresses (analyzing your web logs) AOL, Earthlink and Comcast assign identical IP addresses to different users.
5) Users doing comparison shopping when certain types of products become available or during certain holidays
6) You need to optimize your landing pages and search engine keyword optimization (if you are getting a lot of clicks with no sales)
7) If you are advertising on the Google Content Network, there might be a huge increase in traffic when your ad shows up on a news page or web site promoting a new product; i.e., the iPhone
After implementing all of the above items and ruling out the items from the list above, if you are receiving 2 or 3 times the number of clicks on any day or week compared to regular days or weeks, then you can request Google begin an investigation for you.
To begin an invalid click investigation, you must submit the following information to Google.
- Campaign name,
- AdGroup name(s)
- Keywords in question
- Date and time of invalid click activity
- The trend which led you to believe there were invalid clicks,
- IP addresses (repeated) in your web logs.

A real Google representative employee will investigate your claim and send you a response in 3 – 5 business days and let you know if these clicks are invalid and fraudulent.  If the results show they are invalid, they will credit your account.
Keep in mind that Google uses proprietary technology to delete any charges of invalid clicks before they hit your account.
If you are comparing your web logs to your Google Analytics report and it shows more clicks from Google than in your logs, this means Google has already deleted the invalid clicks they found in your account.
Enjoy the riches that a highly targeted and effective Google AdWords campaign can bring your way, because pay per click services is an extremely valuable advertising tool.
However, make sure to analyze your data at least once every two weeks, if not every week, or even on a daily basis (which is how often I check mine and my clients statistics), to make sure your ppc services are giving you the most for your money.

Pay Per Click Services

As Featured On Ezine Articles

, also known as Pay Per Click Services, or PPC, is becoming more and more powerful for business owners to increase web site traffic and find targeted customers for your products and services.

Unless you have the time, money, or knowledge and skills to obtain natural (organic, free) first-page Google or Yahoo rankings, seeking out reputable pay per click advertising services is your only successful Internet marketing option.

Your advertising budget used to be set aside for direct mail, print advertising; for example, newspaper ads, coupons, flyers, etc.

Conversely, you must now use a larger portion of that advertising budget for Internet marketing.

More than 70% of the United States population uses the Internet to find a business now.  If you are not advertising on the web, you are losing a very large chunk of money.

How do you pick an honest pay per click company? Do they need to be a large AdWords company? Do they need to be a smaller PPC firm, or an individual AdWords expert? Who has the best skills, and who will increase online traffic for your business at the lowest price?

Make sure you shop around, and ask a lot of questions. What kind of questions? You want to know how many hours they spend on researching your market; how many hours of direct, one-on-one telephone time they spend with you; how many keywords they will get for you (this varies); and how many written ads and campaigns they will provide you,  and for what price?

You should be able to ask any question on your mind.  If, for even one minute you are not comfortable with their answers, or they do not seem to know what they are talking about, please find another ppc advertising firm.

This is your money we are talking about, your advertising dollars, so you need a ppc management expert who has already implemented successful adwords results for their clients.

Are you authorized to call or e-mail some of their past clients? Ask them for their name and telephone number, or e-mail address.  If they say no, I would be cautious. They should at least speak with one of their past clients and ask if they will accept a phone call, or at least an e-mail from potential clients.  Otherwise, what kind of service and results did they receive if you cannot contact any of them?

As for the services itself, here is what you need to look for, without the techno mumbo jumbo.

1) One-on-one telephone conversation so the actual person doing your Google AdWords campaign will know what and how to properly research your competition, products and services.  This might take anywhere from an initial one-hour phone call, to several additional phone calls with varying times.

You want to spend as much time up front for the long-term results and best converting campaign.  If the adwords pay per click company or individual charges additional fees for telephone calls, please do not give them your money.

2) Highly researched keywords based on your product or service.  Everyone uses automation to obtain your initial set of keywords, but after they glean these, make sure they go through EACH one, eyeball-to-eyeball from keyword-to-keyword.  You do not need to ask them if they do that, go ahead and test them to see what they do and what their answer is regarding this practice.

It literally takes psychological analysis and in-depth keyword research to know which ones will convert into a sale for you.

Most companies grab 2,000 keywords, place them in either one or several ad categories, and they are done! You will spend thousands and rarely get a sale.  So be careful.  My clients will most likely receive less keywords, but they are optimized for conversion (sales).

Why pay for keywords just so Google gets more money, and you get nothing?  Believe it or not, Google wants you to profit from AdWords. Why?  Because you will keep using this service if you are making money.  If you are not making money with Google AdWords advertising, you will stop, and they will lose money, too.
Google seriously optimizes their programs, and the person they put first is you, the business owner, and the customer.  They provide the best, most related content for their customers on the Internet, bar none.

3) PPC Ad Writing.  How many ads will they write for you?  My clients receive anywhere from 10 – 30 handwritten ads.  I refuse to use the many programs available which will push out 1,000 ads to targeted areas.

I enjoy doing things by hand and using my brain to write ads.  I have been copywriting for over 20 years, so it is something I do well.  The more optimized ads that appeal to your target market, the more possibility you have of catching a customer’s eye.  Testing those ads is critical to your advertising budget.

4) SEO on-page optimization. Does the company or AdWords Professional you are interested in hiring provide you with the highest searched keywords in your field that will increase your on-page SEO (search engine optimization)?

They should, if they genuinely care about you and want you to make money. I provide each and every one of my clients’ with expensive SEO tips and expert methods that will help their web site get (organic) free traffic, and decrease their pay per click services costs.  This is all included in my extremely low price.

5) Follow-up Optimization Testing. Once your ads are running, do they leave you high and dry if you do not pay them outrageous monthly fees of anywhere from $300 to $1,000’s of dollars, depending on your budget?  Be very, very careful here.

This is where 99% of the business owners get taken to the bank. Once the AdWords account is set up, I provide my clients with one week of free optimization, then if they would like to retain my monthly services to keep their pay per click costs low, my price is a only $147 per month.

6) Check your daily budget and area in which you are advertising.  Are you advertising on the content network?  Why?  Do you know what that means, and will they explain why you will be advertising on it, or why you will not?  This valuable free ppc tip alone can save you $20,000 or more per year!

7) And lastly, go with someone you trust. Let your gut instinct tell you whether they are treating you as if it were their own advertising budget and funds, or if you are just another credit card hitting their “cha ching” bucket.

Read through my web site, because you will find I provide a lot of answers that no other larger corporation, smaller company or individual will give you until you hire them.  The Internet is challenging, unknown to many, and I do not want you to become a victim of those looking for easy prey.

Remember, your goal is to increase search engine traffic to make sales, not just increase website traffic.  There truly is a difference.

Please do your homework, and you are welcome to e-mail me with any questions, 24-hours a day.

Here’s to you receiving the best return on your investment with optimized pay per click services.

Higher Search Engine Ranking Secrets

As Featured On Ezine Articles

What is an authority site?

Is there a special technique to link building?

What about article link building; does it really work?

These are some very key questions I see in forums, discuss with other Internet marketers, and there is always a difference of opinion.

So whose search engine optimization efforts are working, and who is wasting their time?

Good question.  Since the algorithms are always changes, and Google doesn’t share everything with us, we need to begin implementing our own intelligent SEO research building techniques.

As of August 1, 2007, backlink authority link relevance has changed.

“What!?  You mean I spent all of this time and money paying for links, writing in forums, posting articles, and asking hundreds of webmasters for links, and it doesn’t matter now?!  Are you joking?!”

Well, yes and no.  Your backlinks still matter, but not all of them.  Highly relevant backlinks are going to be weighted more heavily than unrelated (garbage) links.  So if you set up a BLOG or asked some friends to post comments about your web site in hopes to get more backlinks, if those sites were unrelated to your product or services, you wasted your time.

Page rank. What a difficult subject.  Tormenting for most I know.  I actually built this BLOG just a couple months ago, but made no effort until just about 2 weeks ago to try and get some good, incoming links.  I now rank for some very competitive terms on the first page of Google Cool.  The effort I made was pretty dismal, so I was pretty content.

Know what was really great?  Technorati already listed my BLOG, and all I had to do was login and claim it!  I am a big fan of their site now.  And they are a PR8 Authority Site!  Woah.  I was stoked.

Do I know what to do to get higher rankings

Actually, yes.

Have I done it?

Why not?

Hmmm.  I guess running my own business for clients and also having a full-time job takes more of my time than I’d like.

But I’ve decided to start implementing what I’ve learned over the years and test this out on this particular BLOG.  Yes, a BLOG. Not an optimized BLOG, either.  A GoDaddy BLOG that I can’t do much with except use great keywords and write valuable content for to help my readers learn SEO tips and AdWords strategies.  See there, I just did it again!  :o)  Is that so hard?  Nah.

So if you would like to take a little ride with me over the next few months, let’s see where my AdWords PPC and SEO Services BLOG ends up as an authority site, and how Google sees me versus what Yahoo thinks of me.  Gosh.  I hope I don’t get rejected.  I might get my feelings hurt and give years of all my hard work up!  Not.  I love a challenge!

All it takes is some effort, and thinking.  And linking.  And a bit of intelligence.

To increase your search engine ranking, one of the new techniques is to forget about all PR7 sites and below, and concentrate on the PR8 and PR9 Authority Sites for incoming links.

But paying for links was supposed to be a no-no!

Guess what.  What spammer is going to pay Yahoo Directory $299 per year to get listed with a PR8 Directory to improve their search engine ranking?

Actually, not many.  And that’s just to start.

Try and get listed in DMOZ.ORG.  I have. My site still hasn’t shown up.  Guess they don’t like me or my content.  There aren’t too many PR8 and PR9’s that don’t cost a pretty penny, and the selections are as slim pickings as the ending of a Wal Mart Blue Light Special Sale.  Those were so popular growing up in Jersey!

How many web links do I need to get improved search engine rankings?  Well, from what I’ve been told by some very valuable and highly technical individuals (seriously), you only need about 12 incoming links to improve your SEO visibility.

Is that all there is to it?

Heck no.  But that’s a good start.

Hey, you mentioned there might be a special technique to link building?  What do you mean?

Well, when you want an incoming link, and you are hopefully using your highly researched anchor text link (we are talking about article directory submissions here), please tell me you do not send them all to your home page?  You should be sending all of the relevant articles with anchor text links to the appropriate pages on your site.

I know, everyone wants to focus on your home page.  But work on several of your pages, and make darn sure the title of each page matches the keywords you are using in your anchor text link and category you are submitting the article to in the directory.  Otherwise, you will get penalized for irrelevant content.  Bad link. Bad. Bad. Okay, I’ll stop now.

As for your meta name description, keywords, and header tags, make sure each page is different.  Each set of meta name descriptions, and keywords and header tag should be related to the title.  And do NOT use the same word more than twice in your keywords, or you will be seen as spam.  Please keep your keyword to about 10, approximately 250 characters, but thoughts on that are always changing on that relevance, too.  Geez.  Penalties left and right, I agree.

One thing you can be sure of is that it will change.  Technology changes; therefore, algorithms will change.  Hence, you must update to comply with all of these changes.  But you are here because you enjoy a challenge, right?  You don’t like the corporate 9 – 5 jobs, remember?  Ah, yeah, that’s why I’m here.  I remember now.  Frustration must be something we all enjoy in some warped way.  We can’t be complacent, and we must always be challenged.  Well then, here you are, at the right place at the right time.

I will add one last note about article writing.  Please, please, please do not use articles from membership sites where everyone can use them repeatedly.

Duplicate content. Bad. Duplicate content. Bad. Duplicate content. Bad.  Getting bored yet?  Then you must get my point, and that’s how the search engines feel about it to.  So don’t do it.

Either hire someone from a college who loves the idea of getting his articles “published” on the Internet and pay him or her $5-$8 per article, or outsource to one of the popular sites we all use.  But don’t rearrange the same article.  I have one of those programs, and I will not use it.  Another of many products I purchased over the years.  If you get caught as duplicate content, you just defeated your hard work, and for what?  Content!  For shame.

Fresh, unique article content.  Sure, it takes time.  I should be in bed to get up early for work.  But I am a total geek, so I wanted to write this article first.  And look, I am done.  That wasn’t too hard.  30 minutes and I will post it, ping my BLOG, and wish you all well and hope that I was able to help you in your diligent endeavors to attain higher search engine ranking.
